SupplyChainManagementInformationSystem(SCMIS)hasgainedalotofimportancebecause ofitsabilitytoreducecostsandincreaseresponsivenessinthesupplychain.Theimplementation ofSCMISisacomplicatedprocesswithsignificantrisk.Thestudieshaverevealedthatthesuccess inimplementingthesesystemsisnotveryencouraging.Therefore,itisnecessarytoestablishthe impedimentsinSCMISimplementationandtheirseverity.StudiesonthefailurefactorsoftheERP systemhavealreadybeendonebyvariousresearchers.TheresearchonSCMIS,aninter-organizational system,isinitsearlystagesandisstilltoreceivethatmuchattentionasitspredecessorwhereasbarriers foritsimplementationaremoresevere.Thus,thereexistsagapinresearchinthisimportantarea.In thispaperanattempthasbeenmadetoestablishimpediments,theirseverityandimprovisationfor thesuccessfulimplementationofSCMISintheIndianautomobileindustry.
